Can it perhaps be that a small piece of the blacksmith’s energy is imparted within each blade? Perhaps the age old history of the bladesmithing profession takes with it small pieces of each bladesmith that has taken up the craft of metalworking? That somehow by a certain metaphysical force implants the spirit of the bladesmith in each knife he has produced. Is that on the whole unprovable foolishness? I don't know, but then again, maybe not. I cannot help but notice a transformation as I hammer on a knife. As if in some manner I transform and feel as if I have somehow, in some way or manner joined with the coal fire, metal, and ringing hammer, even though it is only a brief sensation.
